From a small savings circle to a platform for community transformation.
Mafanikio Sarafu Self Help Group is a community-driven organization established in 2019 in Kalobeyei Village 1, Turkana West, Kenya, with an initial membership of 15 members.
Since then, the group has grown steadily and now brings together 34 active members, with strong participation from young people and women.
Our work focuses on economic empowerment, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods — supporting individuals and community groups to build practical skills in Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), business development, financial management, agriculture, and income-generating activities.
Over the years, Mafanikio Sarafu has evolved from a small community savings group into a growing platform for learning, economic opportunity, and community transformation — working with members and other community groups to promote self-reliance, resilience, and sustainable development, alongside partners including Kenya Red Cross, Grassroots Economics Foundation, Danish Refugee Council (DRC).
